Recorded 2006,
Released 2007 Beverley St features an array of Canadian artists, namely David Essig, Romi Mayes, The D.Rangers, Chris Carmichael, Dan Walsh and Scott Nolan. It was recorded in February of 2006 at Beverland, Dollartones recording facility in Winnipeg. The CD is a compilation of songs, all written by Essig over the last thirty-some years and represents an inter-generational Canadian Roots Music summit. It captures some of Canadas most dedicated artists creating, in absolute spontaneity, inspired performances that resonate with the kind of emotional potency that can only come from this type of musical kinship. It is an emotional alchemy, a balance between the wisdom and restraint of an experienced veteran like Essig and the raw molten enthusiasm of a younger group like Romi and the D.Rangers. This recording is rare in that it was approached with little regard or dependency on the studio technology of the modern era. Although not a completely analog endeavor, all tracks were cut completely live with only 3 microphones. Its easy to hear the actual room reverberation and there is a definite feeling of excitement in these performances.
